Support Group Facilitators

We have an amazing array of online support groups to meet the needs of a wide spectrum of the LGBTQ+ community and its intersections. Groups are led by volunteer facilitators who ensure that all of our families can be supported, affirmed, and represented. If you have lived experience that connects you to any of our groups and you're passionate about guiding, uplifting, and making a positive impact for families, we invite you to get trained as a facilitator.

1-on-1
Coaches

We offer individual coaching and goal setting to family members and loved ones of LGBTQ+ people to help them move forward in accepting, understanding, and supporting their LGBTQ+ loved ones, as well as to LGBTQ+ people looking for guidance. If you like the idea of working with people virtually 1-on-1 to meet their specific needs, we invite you to get trained as a volunteer coach.

In addition to the volunteer programs described above, if you have other skill sets or interests that you think would be an asset to our volunteer team, please don't hesitate to reach out through the volunteer form below.

We also need translators (especially for Spanish, East Asian languages, and ASL), folks who want to participate in our advocacy and activism efforts, workshop presenters on topics that might be valuable to our community, influencers and promoters to help us with outreach, and more.

Become a volunteer

We will work with your schedule, but we typically need volunteers with evening and weekend availability (the Safe Schools Program is an exception). For both support group facilitators and 1-on-1 coaches, a PFLAG NYC staff member will provide you with a simple and thorough training process to make sure you feel prepared to volunteer. Please click the button below to fill out our volunteer questionnaire.

Upcoming Group Trainings

Please note that we are taking a break from group volunteer trainings for facilitators and coaches right now. However, we are still offering individual trainings by request for those who fill out the volunteer registration form.
